Joy to the world

This holiday season has given me something special. My .com back. Kenyatech gave up on trying to squeeze me for 10 large. They sold it to a company in Colorado called names.net. They sold it to me for $75. It still hurts, but all's well that ends well. It's going to be a month or two until I have everything all steamlined with the .com & .net. I put some more video on my site last night and toned down some of the colors.

News

It's been awhile blog.
Exciting stuff-
-I'm quitting the real world for the summer and going to Skowhegan Maine for an art residency by a big Lake with lots and lots of trees. link
-working on some really fun art stuffs. They're earthquakes. There's some early shots on my website-- kaivierstra.net
-I've got a show up at the Barbara Walters Gallery in Yonkers NY. It is The Barbara Walters and her gallery is on the grounds of Sarah Lawrence College, my employer. It is a show made specially for us folk who are there as technicians. It's good the students get to see our stuff after all the "careful with that, you'll lose an eye" talk. link
-Also in a show down in Richmond. It's a small gallery, very small. I'm showing a sculpture of the church that's all bricked up in the neighborhood that's been affected by the churches bricking from the view of the bus stop where I got punched in the head by the pcp berserking crack dealer who's obviosly been deeply affected by this whole bricking up of the local church thing. Also a small photo from the bus stop. link
-Show on the horizon-- June 4th, me and a bunch of my best friends are showing at the Kim Foster Gallery on 20th street in Chelsea. 6-8pm The show is called More Fresh Meat, it's the VCU biennial thing. It's going to be packed with awesome sculpture.
-That might be it. I did turn 33 the other day- People are saying that this is the one year I should strive to be less like Jesus/God. It makes me feel so good to hear that kind of stuff.

Aztec Curses

Hi, I've been up to my ears in ancient Aztec objects, most used in a gruesome ritual to satisfy a blood thirsty deity. If you haven't seen the Aztec show at the Guggenheim, you're sorely out of luck because it closed and I've been crating it up to head to Bilbao. If you're smart you'll see it there. Seriously, the show is out of control amazing. These objects will never leave thier home museums again in your lifetime. Get busy and get to Spain. If you can't afford Spain, at least go to the Whitney to see the Tim Hawkinson show, it's up until May-ish. Anyhoo, aside from working a lot, I've been getting into the studio (newly relocated to beautiful Bushwick) and working on my toxic barnacles, also been working on the website a bit. It (the website) is still pretty haggard but coming along as my skills improve.
All My Love

Lee Boroson & Mass MOCA

Lee Boroson's art show is well worth the drive to Saratoga NY. It's at the Tang Museum on the Skidmore College campus. If you're in the area you might as well head East to Mass Moca and look at what they've got to offer- it's good too. Hey, make a real trip of it and stop at SUNY Albany to see Edward Mayer's show and Brian Caverly's great dane statue. On a sad note, Friendly's doesn't have clam strips anymore, what's worse- the median price of thier entree's is around $9 now, with only a couple few of the outrageously overpriced meals coming with the happy ending sundae.

Website

I've been hard at work learning proper websiting ever since those scoundrels at Kenyatech stole my beloved and simple kaivierstra.com. So here it is- http://kaivierstra.net be nice, I'm just learning. I've been taking some time out of my dreamweaver studies (thanks Meridith)to get over to the co-op skatebowl more. We just built a mini ramp in the back that's super good. Massive coping, I mean really really big. Something I've always thought might be nice but have never seen implemented until now. Sure enough- it's good.
